The project consisted of a complete electrical installation for a 178,000 square foot semi-conductor manufacturing facility containing 37,800 square feet of office area, 91,600 square feet of sub-fab process area, and 48,600 square feet of a Class I cleanroom. Due to the extremely rapid design and construction schedule, Ludvik Electric was commissioned to assist in the design of numerous electrical systems so that installation could run concurrently with design.
The electrical distribution system includes six, 3000-Amp/480-Volt services, six 3000-Amp/208-volt services, 46 motor control centers, 800-AMP/240-Volt plug-in busway serving cleanroom manufacturing equipment, lighting and power panelboards, step-down power transformers, isolation ‘K’ rated transformers serving non-linear loads, and a 1200KW, 480-Volt emergency generator feeding a 2000-Amp/480-Vole distribution system.
The process instrumentation is fully controlled by a computerized Foxboro System. The electrical work includes instrumentation calibration and commissioning. The system provides control of air handlers, scrubbers, HEPA filters, humidifiers, high purity gas, and regeneratio waste treatment systems. The sub-fab process area contains a Class I, Division 1 gas cylinder and chemical storage area requiring an explosion-proof electrical instllation.
