The new four-story 188,000 sq ft History Colorado Center replaced the existing Colorado History Museum. The new structure with a basement and mechanical penthouse contains offices, exhibition areas, collection/storage, educational and ancillary spaces for more than 15 million archival documents and photographs, as well as more than 250,000 artifacts. The project was designed to be managed and constructed in order to acquire a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
