Los Angeles International Airport Terminal 4 CBIS/CBRA—American Airlines

Electrical installation of baggage handling equipment to support screening of checked baggage of new CBIS/CBRA with five (5) explosion scanners. Tie-in of existing ticket counter and curbside lines into new CBIS.

Electrical installation of a new inline checked baggage screening system. The Baggage Handling System consisted of over 4,400 lineal feet of conveyor equipment with over 500 drives, a CBIS with five (5) explosive scanners and an associated CBRA. Electrical installation included wiring of power and controls for the baggage handling system. The new baggage handling system was tied-in to existing ticket counter, curbside and sortation lines in support of American Airlines daily operations. The screening system complied with existing TSA standards for inspection of checked baggage. This system was the first to utilize Permanent Magnet Motor Technology in the United States. This technology achieves an approximate 50% energy savings over previous motor technologies in the baggage handling world.
